The Words of Malcolm X Inspired Me To Write!

It seems like yesterday, but I remember the very day I first read The Autobiography of Malcolm X: it was a sunny day, midday, I went to the library, I was 22, and in search of myself and the truth.  It hit me then and there...GET MALCOLM X's book.  I checked it out, read it...and was changed forever.

What inspired me the most was the authenticity and realness of what he was saying.  It hit me to the core--I totally related to him.

It was this very moment that opened up my soul and it lead me down a path that provoked the author in me today.

I'm so thankful for Malcolm X.

During his lifetime, he never really achieved success personally, but he was living his destiny and he knew that he'd pay the price with his life.  However, the truth that he invoked in America and in Black people particular, was needed.

He was demonized, caricatured and hated--believe it or not, by upper middle class Black people than racist whites.  And the feeling was mutual.

Malcolm was a vigorous defender of Blacks against white violence and his speeches changed the minds and hearts of people around the world.

He just made too much damn sense.

Never one to back down, he spoke his mind unapologetically, daring anyone to challenge him.  He took on all comers.  His debates at Harvard are legendary.  He was a strong advocate for Black Nationalism and urged Blacks to be more self-reliant.

Where would we be if it were not for this man's courage?

He spoke out when it was dangerous for Black people to do so.

If you are a young person and have not read this book, I encourage you to do so.

It will change your life.

Ne-Ne Leakes Is Going To Be On Prime Time...OMG!

When she reads--if she reads what I'm about to write, I guess she'll "take me down" too, as she told Star Jones on Celebrity Apprentice.

Any hoot...when I read that Ne Ne was going to be on the new NBC show this fall entitled The New Normal, I almost screamed.  NBC has been airing this during the Olympics.

Mainstream America better get prepared.

Frankly, I am not a fan of this woman.  Why?  Because she doesn't deserve anything that she has, but has gotten to be where she is because of her ability to manipulate her impediment.  And what is that?  She's a chick from the ghetto who got famous because of her "attitude." and obvious personality disorder  And it's that attitude that also marks her.

People like Ne Ne Leakes should now be celebrated...they should be medicated.

She's a bully that should be on Prozac not Prime Time.

Ne Ne touts herself as a devoted mother of two who is the founder of the charity Twisted Hearts foundation which is aimed at the education about domestic violence.  A noble cause indeed, but seriously?  Ne Ne Leakes is an abuser.  Is this woman sleepwalking or something.

The way she hated on Star Jones on Celebrity Apprentice last year made me think that perhaps Ne Ne can's stand to see other women achieve success or has more than she has.

Whoever Ne Ne is, what she is not most certainly is a role model.  Her behavior is just unacceptable, but hell!  It's all for entertainment, right?

Currently, she has a book (she didn't write) out on Amazon.com, entitled, Never Make The Same Mistake Twice.  The reviews are mixed.

However, as with all mistakes; only life can educate us the best.

And I hope Karma doesn't tap Life on the shoulder and demand payment from Ms. Leakes in the near future.

People Keep Stealing My Book!!!

My book, A Journey Into The Mind of a Black Woman has been out for about six months, and I've been told by about 5 people that bought the book, that someone has stolen their book after purchasing it. Most by family members....

Should I be flattered?

The reports keep coming in about how much the book is inspiring people, but I'd like some of you to give your book reviews on Amazon.com.

It appears that there is someone trying to sabotage the book (white racists) who may have seen the book advertised in various sites that I frequent, as well as on my blog. For those of you who have read the book in its entirety; please give a customer review on Amazon.com. I know that God inspired me to write this book. It is a message for the Black man that is meant to heal and empower. Don't allow hate to destroy that. I appreciate all of your support.

It is a book that was inspired by true events relating to how a Black woman feels about what she loves the most in this world: Black men. Society tells our people every single day that we are not valued, loved or respected. We did not destroy this economy, but a young Black man (Trayvon Martin) lost his life because of these preconceived notions about us. Our men are a precious resource and it is important that they know how much they are valued. Some people want to write books for money and get rich. I wanted to write a good book and make ordinary folks feel rich because of what they read. This is my gift to all the Black men that have inspired me throughout my life.

For those of you who have purchased the book or will be purchasing it: first, join the discussion group I created for the book on fb "Journeytalk" https://www.facebook.com/groups/323908484308123/ then please do a customer review on Amazon.com

Thank you,

I Will Not Support Basketball Wives or Housewives Franchise...

Basketball Wives

Housewives of Atlanta

And ALL and any shows that depict Black women in such negative light.

Sorry, I'm trying to start a business. I'm a writer, and basically, I consider myself to be a very interesting and intelligent woman. I was not raised to look for money in a man--I was taught to look for character--FIRST. Money has to have a mission other than being used to buy things. Many people love to brag about what they have; few do not seem to understand the value of those things or lack thereof.

Hair weave, fake nails, butt injections, designer clothes mean nothing if there is no substance in the woman who fancy such things.

These women have no class. Period. They lack poise, grace, depth and obviously have nothing to claim as their own other than who they married/divorced.

It's sad to see that there are women who earn the title: GOLDDIGGER and what's worse; there are men who marry them. Even the Bible warns men not to marry whores. These women are lazy, desperate and have such toxic narcissism; if they farted in your face; most would think it wouldn't stink. I got news for them--Sh*t still stinks no matter whose ass it comes out of.

These women do not represent me or most Black women.

Why do people like these shows?

I'm tired of the lack of dignity in many of the shows that depict Black culture.

Who really should be held accountable? Those who produce these shows or those who watch them?

Who Do I Have To Be?

What makes people do what they do? Why do so many people spend so much time trying to impress people that they don't really like?

We live our lives trying to impress others, but the trick of life is to make people accept you without all the masks many wear.

All of my life, I've been me.

I was a quiet child. Deep thinker--even at 5 years old. I observed and made mental notes of everything. Music was my first loved and I would disappear into the stereo whenever I music flowed through my house. It was my buddy--my constant companion. I never quite had a need for validation or acceptance. I was me. period. Like me or move on. I would not change to make anyone more comfortable. All I can be is me.

Sometimes we are intimidated on the job, by our peers, community, churches, and general society. However, you have to take a stand and stop playing games.

I know that some people find it hard to be relaxed in certain settings, but it's so powerful when you just walk in a room and not care who is there. It's not about the company but the impact you leave people with that matters.

That has stayed with me to this day.

Do you know who you are? Are you true to yourself?

I've Been Thinking...

Everyday I wake up, I pray, then I get up and start my day.  Each day is a mystery and I always am hopeful that God will surprise me with something special.
As a child, I was a quiet little girl and I had to learn about life through facing my fears—one by one.  It was not easy, and sometimes I was scared to death.  But I learned by facing what I feared—I could conquer it.
Fear is a major issue for a lot of people and I read a scripture in the Bible that says that “For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.” 2 Timothy 1:7.
Embracing this…has truly opened my eyes as to why so many people are hindered in their lives.
I remember when I used to be scared just to talk.  Kids used to sometimes pick on me and I learned early that if you don’t use your mouth; words can hit harder than a fist.  This part of myself bothered me so much, I actually prayed and asked God to make me stronger and help me start defending myself.  Even as a child, I knew it was not ok to be verbally abused.  The catalyst to this actually began while observing a quote on my beauticians wall.  It said: If you want to be heard, speak up.  I copped that quick.  In my spirit, I knew this was speaking to me.  So, over time, I actually started to feel a new boldness.  And by high school, I could really let someone have it.  This made people fear me.  I had found a new power.  And I learned how to use it very well.  Trust me, I made up for all of the quiet of my childhood.
It’s important in life to have a voice.  This world demands it.
Words have power and if you want to influence the world; learn how to use them to impact people positively.
Everything always comes back.  What you speak today could shape your tomorrow.

*****(5) Stars!!!

R. Kelly and I don't know each other and probably never will, but I have been a part of his life, and he, a part of mine, for over 20 years.

Born into The Nineties was his debut album with the group Public Announcement and I heard the message.  From the beginning, we saw the talent emerge that has since become the King of R & B.  I bought this album and every album since: 12-Play, T.P. 2, R Kelly, R. , T.P. 3 Reloaded, Chocolate Factory, Happy People, Double Up, Untitled, Love Letter and the current smash album, Write Me Back.

It's only been out for a week, but my first reaction to the album was to dance.  It made me happy.  And I haven't had a lot that has brought this feeling to me in recent years.  From the first song, Love is to the last on the Deluxe editon, Call Me Back; I was taken into another world.  He was the MC and the main act.  I was diggin' the ride.

The songs are well written, arranged and produced.

The essence of the album makes you remember great albums like, the late Michael Jackson's Off The Wall and Thriller albums, and the Saturday Night Fever soundtrack.  You walk away feeling as though you've had some kind of "experience."

I love this album!

Fans do too.

If you loved Chocolate Factor and Happy People; you'll certainly groove to this album.

GO GET IT!

Well Done, Kels.

In Search of Intelligent Black Minds...

Everyday I wake up, I thank the Lord. I get up, wash my face, and get dressed for my 9-5. But there is an aching in my soul to experience something deep. Something to expound my existence beyond space and time. I found Jesus at 5, but I'm still here and I have to wait to see him.

What I need right now is to be alive at the same time with individuals who can take thought and paint canvases with words as Picasso did with his brush.

Music is the background for all that I do. I hear sounds: drums, bass, horns, keyboards, flutes...and voices...beautiful voices. The beat begins. It makes the body move instantly. One sways back and forth. Fingers begin to pop. Hips begin to rock. The sound takes a hold of the listener and nothing else matters. Like Soul music once did.

This is the feeling that I want to have when I hear intelligence coming forth from the minds of those who dare to challenge our consciousness. I want to be moved beyond the restrictions of human emotion. I want to travel beyond time; experiencing the unwitnessed. Learning the secret knowledge of the heavenly realm.

Our intellectuals have been silent for quite some time and we miss them terribly.

For over a decade now, I've been pounding my thoughts in cyber and more recently in my new book, A Journey Into The Mind of a Black Woman.

With the hopes of igniting an intellectual fire and movement, not seen since the Harlem Renassaince.

We've been lethargic for over 3 decades and if you go by today's current crop of so called Black leaders; we don't THINK for ourselves anymore. Who are these people talking to? Haven't you ever wondered just where the truth about our community and the reality of our community actually connect?

Sometimes I feel like Black culture has been stalked, attacked and butchered by Jack the Ripper.

Lately, I've been reminiscing Soul. What was it? It was the pure expression of Black creativity, intellect and spiritual elevation, wrapped around revolution and frank communication from and to our people. We told it like it was.

Sometimes I feel like Black folks today are lost in space. Confused, dazed and hoodwinked by bling, floss and too much narcissism and ignorance.

How is it possible that Black parents are producing White Supremacists?

When will we elevate?

I'm hungry for this time. And I plan to be at the forefront when it finally comes alive.

White People Offended By BLACK THOUGHT!

Didn't know this, but apparently, there are some white folks who feel that freedom of speech only applies to them.

Casually, many Black people have experienced the occasional comment from "them" of how they felt that such and such was a racist for stating 1.) the absolute truth about a real life experience, and 2.) their perception of the matter. And my personal favorite: they get offended if you don't respond in the manner in which their white privilege demands, i.e., "you won't or don't date/marry "them." Sounding almost like a disgruntled dude or chick because you dumped them. They can't stand it when Black people let them have it.

We put up with white folks for the most part on a daily basis, but sometimes, you just get tired of their stupidity. Sometimes things just have to be said. You can't be subtle with some folks. White people really are so arrogant; it shocks them to the core of their being if someone, particularly "one of us" actually will tell them to their face what they really think of them.

The Audacity!

Hmmmm....wasn't it just a generation ago when white folks were callilng Black people apes and monkeys? Insulting our intelligence, all the while, not facing their own innate ignorance.

Our history on this planet completely dismisses the notion of Black people being inferior.

White people descended from Neanderthals. Black People descended from Homo-Sapiens--the highest species. But because of slavery; white historians, along with social engineering tactics, legal abuses, and the media, began to propogate our image as they saw us. So much so, even Black folks began to believe the lies about our people. Link:  http://www.asante.net/articles/19/race-in-antiquity-truly-out-of-africa/

However, through the strength of our own Black scholars; our true history was unmasked and it is to say, quite remarkable how much was stolen from Africa. But true to form, white acedamia resisted this with a passion, but hell, all anyone had to do was refer to the Greek scholars such as Pliny and Herodotus for clarity of the mighty history of Black people. African civilizations and influences are responsible for much of the development of Rome and Greece. It is a well known fact that the ancient Egyptians were Black:
But throughout much of the last 200 years in particular, this fact has tried to be expunged. However, God stepped in and a man named Cheikh Anta Diop dared challenge the presumptions (at best0 of European HIStory: http://www.raceandhistory.com/Historians/cheikh_anta_diop.htm

Black people should not feel inferior to anyone, and if white people get offended by the truth of what we say, I really don't give a damn.

OBAMA!

As they love to tell us: GET OVER IT!

****Open Invitation****

I was very young when I began writing.  Early on, I was encouraged by family, friends, teachers and those I've encountered on the many web discussion sites I've been a member of.

I was very young when I started writing and every step of my development people encouraged me: family, friends, teachers and even people on many discussion sites, mainly those I encountered on Blackvoices that encouraged me to write my book, A Journey Into The Mind of a Black Woman. It is an inspirational conversation book discussing bold issues impacting Black males and the impact on the Black community as a whole. The language is hip, frank and engrosses the reader. The book is so deep; you'll need oxygen after reading it.

So many people have been responding to the book--I'm humbled.

I'd like to give my support of young, up and coming writers as well.

If you have a book that you have published or thinking about publishing, please click on this link to my blog and select "comments" to advertise it.  If you have a link for the cover image, just post it as well.

Good luck to all of you.
